Let's Change The World - Together!

What do you do when you don’t like the things you see in the world around you? Well, you have a couple options; you can complain about what you don’t like or you can be a catalyst for change.  As followers of Jesus, we are called to the second option.  He wants us to participate in the healing of the world.  Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 5:20 that we (Christ followers) are Christs’ ambassadors, His representatives.  Jesus didn’t say that everything would be easy, just the opposite.  He said, “in this world you WILL have trouble, but take heart, I have overcome the world.”

So how can we participate in helping to heal our world?  First, and most important, we need to pray.  Paul wrote in 1 Timothy 2 “I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions”.  All people, that includes the ones we disagree with and those we don’t like.  And Paul went on to say why we should pray for them, because “this is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

The second thing we can do to change our world, is to follow the example of Jesus.  He didn’t use posts on social media (I doubt he would have if it was available).  He didn’t enter into politics or rail against the Roman occupation. He remained focused on one mission; “to seek and to save the lost.” Luke 19:10.  He understood His purpose. “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” John 3:17

While He walked the earth, Jesus changed lives through relationship, often one person at a time, and He continues to change lives today.  And that is the heart of all our ministries here at Calvary.  To change the world, one person at a time, by introducing them to the life changing power of the love of Jesus.  I invite you to join us on this mission.  So connect with a Community Group and let’s begin to Change The World as we Do Life Together!

“When hard times come and it seems God is deviating from the plan we assume our life should follow, we're more likely to want to tame God, not trust Him. It's then that we begin to press into our ways and our own timing. No human can carry the weight of being their own god, but so many of us try.” This is an excerpt from the study Diane will be leading on Tuesday evenings.  It is based on a series by Lysa TerKeurst called Trustworthy.  Diane will be putting her own unique spin on this study and it is sure to be powerful, enlightening and challenging.  You won’t want to miss it.
