The Warmth of Relationship
During the winter months, there is nothing more soothing and relaxing than sitting in front of a warm fire. But did you know that healthy relationships can also produce a feeling of warmth? Psychologists say that there are specific qualities in a relationship that bring a sense of warmth and comfort. Kindness, support, trust and understanding are all traits that, when shared with another person, have a warming effect.
It should come as no surprise that when we are walking closely with God, we reflect the same warm qualities in our relationships. Psalm 15:2-4 David described some of the characteristics of a person who walks closely with God.
“He walks blamelessly and does what is right.” (v.2) They aren’t perfect but they seek to be more like Jesus each day. They have integrity.
“He speaks truth in his heart.” (v.2) They are honest and can be trusted.
“He does not slander with his tongue.” (v.3) They don’t gossip or share stories that would reflect poorly on others.
“He does no evil to his neighbor or takes up a reproach against a friend.” (v.3) They are kind, think the best of others and stick up for their friends.
“He honors those who fear the Lord.” (v.4) They choose to build relationships with those who have good character.
“He swears to his own hurt and does not change.” (v.4) They keep their word, even when it causes hardship.
Maybe you’re looking for the warmth of a relationship with a person like this. Not someone who is perfect, but someone who is seeking to walk closely with God and reflect His character. Community Groups are a place where you can be with others who want to become more like Jesus and experience those kind of friendships. Sign up for a group today and begin building healthy, growing, challenging relationships with others.

Ladies Bible Study

Join Diane for a study of the Book of Hebrews. Hebrews was a sermon for a specific people and culture in the midst of martyrdom and persecution, but is also so relevant for us today, reminding us to continue walking toward Jesus regardless of our culture or our circumstances. Hebrews is a bridge between the Old and New Testaments that reveals Jesus as our accessible King. He is not a faraway God, but an up-close Redeemer who draws near to us. This study will help you make the connection between God the Father and God the Son and reminds us that Jesus is supreme, but He is also compassionate, empathetic, and loving to no end. This is a video / discussion study.
