If we're honest, most of us will admit that it's much easier to get out for a run or walk when the weather is nice. Something about a warm, sunny day just begs us to get out and enjoy it. As we pass into November, those sunny days are likely to be only a memory until next spring. So, the challenge is to remain consistent even when the weather is less than inviting.
Life is much the same. It's easier to have the desire to follow Jesus when everything is going our way. When the difficult days come along, it becomes harder to "trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding."
The secret in everyday life and in our fitness is not to let the circumstances dictate our desire. To be content with whatever the day brings, whether it be stormy weather or life challenges.
The Apostle Paul wrote in Philippians 4:11-12 "I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength."
So, whether it's sunny and warm, or cold and rainy, lace up your running shoes and remember that you can do EVERYTHING through Him! Someone once said, "Running sucks, until you lace up and remember why you love to run." Sometimes the key to finding contentment, is to stop focusing on the weather and just get out there.

We are encouraging ALL members of the Calvary Running Team to join us on Thanksgiving morning at 8:30 am, at Lively Pool on Thurston Road, to run the Turkey Stuffer 5k. You can sign up at eclecticedgeracing.com. All team members are encouraged to wear their CRT shirts and represent our team. If you don't have a shirt, I will be making another order this week so get me your size. Shirts cost $10.
The Pacific Northwest Marathon is sponsoring a contest from October 29th through December 9th. It's pretty simple. Run or Walk with a Friend and Win a Prize! Here's how it works:
1. Help your friends reach their fitness goals by inviting them to run or walk with you in the month of November.
2. Post about your run/walk on the Pacific Northwest Marathon Facebook page.
3. Earn a point each day you run/walk with a friend.
4. Top 5 scores win prizes!

This week we will meet on Wednesday at noon at the Springfield entrance to Pre's Trail (the parking lot at the corner of Aspen and D streets). On Saturday, we will meet at 8 am at Weyerhaueser road off 57th street and Bob Straub Parkway. On Sunday we will meet at 4 pm, at Clearwater trail. I hope to see you there!
