KOR Parent Letter for Nov 15th

November 13, 2015

Dear Parents, Grandparents, & Mentors of Calvary:

I hope you are having a great week!

This Sunday

Your K-5th grade children will be encouraged to “ask God for what you need to lend a hand” through the story of the Elijah and the widow of Zarephath (1 Kings 17:1-6). Parent Cue: This week, sit down with your family and come up with a way that you can serve your community together this season. Pray and ask God for what you need (guidance, time, energy, funds etc.) to be able to serve.

Your Pre-K children will be learning that they can “trust God’s plan even when it’s hard” through the story of Joseph in jail (Genesis 39-40; Proverbs 4:11-12). Parent Cue: This week, at play time, play jail tag with a space as jail to go to if you are tagged. A friend can high-5 you free! Talk about Joseph trusting God in jail.

Upcoming Events

Due to the couples’ retreat this weekend, there will only be one service at 10:30am this Sunday.

The children will be practicing their song for Christmas Eve this Sunday during their lesson. If your child is particularly interested in singing at the Christmas Eve service, please let me know so I can get you a CD for them to practice with at home.

There will be no Awana on November 25th due to Thanksgiving. You are welcome to join us for a family worship night that evening. Pie will be served at 6:30 and worship will start at 7:30. Childcare will only be provided at 7:30 for infants and Pre-K children.

In celebration of Jesus’ birthday, we will be having a birthday party on December 7th (Monday) (I apologize for announcing the wrong date in my last email) from 6:30pm to 8pm. We are asking the children to bring socks, gloves, or hats for those in need as gifts for Jesus. You could even have them wrap them like birthday presents.

Have a great week!

Pastor Bre

“Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.  Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up” (Deuteronomy 6:5-7, NIV84).
