"Lord of all, to Thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise."
If you are anything like me it would only take the wrong side of the bed to launch you into a sour mood. I actually used to joke that God gave us coffee to expel the evil spirits of the night. :)
Joking aside, it is hard to remember to be grateful, especially when we are used to getting pretty much everything we want. For those of us that have kids (and have had to "brok up" with ourselves) we expect them to be grateful, but we all know they probably wont be. I am reminded of the provision that God gave in the wilderness, how He gave them all that they needed to survive: food, water, sneakers that never wore out, etc. Yet they were not grateful.
"again the Israelites started wailing and said, "If only we had meat to eat!" Num. 11:4.
We are moving into a time of year where we get to look back on what God has done and be thankful. We all know it's a choice, so let's choose to be grateful. Here is an old hymn that should probably help...
FOR THE BEAUTY OF THE EARTH
"1. For the beauty of the earth,
For the beauty of the skies,
For the love which from our birth
Over and around us lies,
Lord of all, to thee we raise
This our hymn of grateful praise.
2. For the beauty of each hour
Of the day and of the night,
Hill and vale, and tree and flow'r,
Sun and moon, and stars of light,
3. For the joy of human love,
Brother, sister, parent, child,
Friends on earth, and friends above,
For all gentle thoughts and mild."
