Dear Parents, Grandparents, & Mentors of Calvary:
I hope you have had a great week!
In light of what we have been learning about service, your K-5th grade children will be packing Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes during children’s church to send to children in need oversees. We will bring them into the service at the end of second service. This means your children will be in the sanctuary at the end of second service. Please help us match you to your children. Parent Cue: At dinner this week ask, “Who is someone you know that is going through a tough time? How can we serve them?”
Your Pre-K children will be encouraged that they are part of God’s plan through the story of Joseph saving the grain (Genesis 41; Ephesians 2:10). Parent Cue: At play time, this week, let your child pack a picnic for your family! As you eat, talk about how God used Joseph to save food so that many people could eat!
Be sure to bring your Operation Christmas Child boxes on Sunday if you haven’t already dropped them off.
Time permitting; the children will be practicing their song for Christmas Eve this Sunday during their time upstairs. If your child is particularly interested in singing at the Christmas Eve service, please let me know so I can get you a CD for them to practice with at home.
There will be no Awana on November 25th due to Thanksgiving. You are welcome to join us for a family worship night that evening. Pumpkin pie will be served at 6:00pm and worship will start at 7:00pm. Childcare will only be provided at 7:00pm for infants and Pre-K children.
In celebration of Jesus’ birthday, we will be having a birthday party on December 7th (Monday) from 6:30pm to 8pm. We are asking the children to bring socks, gloves, or hats for those in need as gifts for Jesus. You could even have them wrap them like birthday presents.
See you Sunday!
“Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up” (Deuteronomy 6:5-7, NIV84).
