Dear Parents, Grandparents, & Mentors of Calvary:
I hope you have had a wonderful week!
Your K-5th grade children will be challenged that “God saw our greatest need. Whose needs do you see?” through the story of Gabriel coming to Mary (Luke 1:26-38). We will be lighting the pink Advent candle. This is called the “Shepherd’s candle” and reminds us of the joy they had when the angels brought them news of Jesus’ birth. May we all live in that joy daily! Parent Cue: At bed time this week, read Luke 1:26-38. Thank God together for taking care of a specific need in your family.
Your Pre-K children will be learning about Jesus being born in a stable because there was no room in the inn (Luke 2:1-7). Parent Cue: This week at play time; make a stable of cushions, pillows, and blankets. Add a baby doll and stuffed animals. Talk about how Jesus was born in a stable.
We want to give every family a little tool to use this Advent season to facilitate family talks about Jesus’ arrival. Please see Donna or myself (depending on your child(ren)’s ages) for yours.
There will be no Awana on December 23rd and 30th.
You are invited to join us for our Christmas Eve service on Dec 24th at 6pm. The children will be singing a special titled “Happy Birthday, Jesus.” We are practicing our song during our regular children’s church time. If your child(ren) are particularly interested in singing in the service, please let me know so I can send a CD home for practicing. Also, there will be rehearsals on Dec 22nd and 23rd at 6:30pm.
Have a great weekend!
“Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up” (Deuteronomy 6:5-7, NIV84).
