KOR Parent Letter for Jan 3rd
Dear Parents, Grandparents, & Mentors of Calvary:
Welcome to 2016!
Your K-5th grade children will be kicking off the new year with a look at self-control which we are defining as “choosing to do what you should do, not what you want to do.” Our memory verse will be Proverbs 25:28: “Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control” (NIV).
Your Pre-K children will be asking the question “who can do that?” The answer: “Only Jesus can do that!” Their memory verse will be: “With God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26).
Your K-5th grade children will be looking at Proverbs 25:28 and 2 Peter 1:3. Our bottom line will be: “God can give you the power to control yourself.” Parent Cue: At dinner this week, ask: How can having self-control protect you from getting hurt?
Your Pre-K children will be learning about the time when Jesus helped Peter and his friends catch a lot of fish after they had tried all night (Luke 5:1-7). Parent Cue: This week, during bath time, let your child use a cup to “catch” plastic fish. Talk about how Jesus helped Peter and his friends catch LOTS of fish!
Awana will resume on January 6th.
We are having a spa day for girls in the K-6th grades on January 23rd at 1:30pm to 3:30pm. This is going to be a fun afternoon of pampering as we talk about outer and inner beauty!
Thank you for allowing us to invest in your precious children!
“Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up” (Deuteronomy 6:5-7, NIV84).
