Strengthen and Encourage Those Around You

Strengthen: Is a foundation that is set fast.

Encourage: Coming along side, covering

These are two of the concepts that Pastor Kirk talked about two Sundays ago; they are also some of the core principals of our community group.

We are doing this by encouraging the homeless and letting them know we are willing to come alongside them, we can strengthen them by being there covering in which we are backing them up with prayer. The scriptures from the Bible that really points this out are found in Luke 15:17-20 where it talks about the unconditional love a father has for his son, I saw this unconditional love come alive, this last Saturday when we were helping the homeless.

The prodigal son that had become homeless was now validated with open arms by his father, he knew his inheritance lied in the foundation of his relationship he had with his father, for his father was a compassionate and merciful man. Our heavenly father feels the same way about us, he always has arms open to us with love and compassion, praise the lord we have already been validated by Christ, who died on the cross to cover all our sins.

In Luke 15:17-20 it says: But when he came to himself, he said how many of my father’s hired servants have bread enough to spare and I perish with hunger.

I will arise and go to my father and will say to him father, I have sinned against heaven and before you, and I am no longer worthy to be called your son, make me like one of your hired servants.

And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him.

This illustrates the immediate acceptance of a sinner who turns to God. This is part of the good news of Jesus Christ and of the great commission for us as christians that we should be going out to the by ways and highways sharing the good news of Christ.

What a powerful concept this illustrates, when the prodigal son’s father saw him, all his preconceived ideas of what he did wrong melted away, his son didn’t even get a chance to open his mouth and ask for forgiveness. What an unconditional love the Father had for his son.

Thank you all for your help this last Saturday, it was very much appreciated.

God Bless You all,
