KOR Parent Letter for Feb 7th
Dear Parents, Grandparents, & Mentors of Calvary:
Welcome to February!
Your K-5th grade children will be focusing on cooperation which we are defining as “working together to do more that you can do alone.” Our memory verse will be Ecclesiastes 4:9: “Two people are better than one. They can help each other in everything they do” (NIrV).
Your Pre-K children will be asking the question “who does Jesus love?” Jesus loves everyone! “Love each other as I have loved you” (NIV John 15:12) will be their memory verse.
What happens at home is more relevant than what happens at church. A conversation with you about what they are learning at church and how it applies to everyday life can be very meaningful.
Your K-5th grade children will be encouraged that “we can work together to get God’s work done” through the story of Moses and the Israelites building the tabernacle (Exodus 28: 1,3; 31:1-11; 35:21,25,34; 39:42-43). Parent Cue: This week, at dinner, ask your child(ren): How have your friends or family worked together to do God's work?
Your Pre-K children will be learning about the time Jesus met a woman at the well and loved her even though she had made bad choices (John 4:1-30). Parent Cue: This week, at play time, make Valentines with your child for your friends and family. Talk about how Jesus loves everyone and how that means we should love everyone too!
The boys are getting excited about the boys’ Nerf Night that is coming up on Feb 19th (6:30-8:30pm). They are going to have a blast! Dinner will be provided. If they have nerf guns and bullets, please have them write their names on them and bring them. If they don’t have their own stuff, we have some they can borrow. Please do not let them bring nerf bow and arrows (we will be in the church and those things pack a good punch). Fathers and big brothers: you are welcome to come and play too! Please let me know if you need more information or would like to help out.
Thank you for allowing us to invest in your precious children!
“Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up” (Deuteronomy 6:5-7, NIV84).
