Dear Parents, Grandparents, & Mentors of Calvary:
I hope you’ve had great week!
Your K-5th grade children will be encouraged that “whatever happens, remember God is still at work” through the story of the crucifixion (John 18-19). Parent Cue: This week, at dinner, share about a time in your life that God used something hard as an agent of change in your life.
Your Pre-K children will be learning that “God sent Jesus to do something special” through the story of Palm Sunday (Matthew 21:1-16). Parent Cue: This week, during play time, gather shirts and coats. Ask your child make a “road” with them in your house. Talk about Jesus riding on a path like this!
We will be celebrating Easter Sunday (Mar 27th) at Springfield High School. Breakfast will be at 9:45am and the service starts at 10:30am. A nursery, Pre-K room, and K-2nd grade class will be available. Check-in for these begin at 10:15am. Please do us a quick favor and run your children to the bathroom before checking them in. Children in the 3rd grade and up will be staying with their parents for the Easter service.
The Awana Grand Prix will be held on April 23rd. Check-in will be from 1:30-2:00pm. We will begin racing at 2pm. All modifications to the cars need to be made before check-in. Cars need to be made with the Awana car kits that will be available for purchase ($5) beginning this Wednesday. Cars must be no longer than 7”, no wider than 2 ¾”, no taller than 3”, and no heavier than 5 oz. We will open up the gym for a pre-event work shop on Apr 23rd from noon-1:30pm. At this time, the track will be available to run cars in addition to a scale, drill, and weights for making modifications. These resources will no longer be available at 1:30 when check-in begins. For more information: contact Melissa Carlsen.
If you do not have your own tools for cutting out their Grand Prix cars, John Egli has invited us over to his work shop (790 30th St Building E1, Springfield, OR - “Cozy Cruiser” is the name of his business) to use his tools on Apr 10th from 1:30-3:30pm. Parents are responsible for getting their children there. It is also mandatory that parents stay with their children.
Have a great weekend!
“Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up” (Deuteronomy 6:5-7, NIV84).
