KOR Parent Letter for March 27th
Dear Parents, Grandparents, & Mentors of Calvary:
We will be celebrating Easter Sunday at Springfield High School. Breakfast will be served in the cafeteria at 9:45am and our service will begin in the auditorium at 10:30am. Nursery and Pre-K care will be provided in the cafeteria during the service. There will also be a K-2nd grade class provided on the other side of the auditorium. Check-in for all children (infant-2nd grade) will begin at 10:15am. Please do us a quick favor and run your potty-trained children to the bathroom before checking them in. Children in the 3rd grade and up will be staying with their parents for the Easter service. Sermon treat bags will be passed out for 3rd-5th grade children right before the sermon.
Meanwhile, your Pre-K and K-2nd grade children will be learning about the hope we have because of the Easter story.
Elementary Parent Cue: This week, at bedtime, read John 20. Pray for each other that you can live your lives each day with hope knowing that God is stronger than anything that’s happening.
Pre-K Parent Cue: This week, let your child wake up to “Jesus is alive!” Clap and hug over this amazing good news! Every time someone mentions Easter make sure you remind your child that we celebrate Easter because we’re so happy that Jesus is alive!
There will be no Awana this week (Mar 23rd) due to Spring Break.
The Awana Grand Prix will be held on April 23rd. Check-in will be from 1:30-2:00pm. We will begin racing at 2pm. All modifications to the cars need to be made before check-in. Cars need to be made with the Awana car kits that are available for purchase ($5) on Wednesday nights after Awana. Cars must be no longer than 7”, no wider than 2 ¾”, no taller than 3”, and no heavier than 5 oz. We will open up the gym for a pre-event work shop on Apr 23rd from noon-1:30pm. At this time, the track will be available to run cars in addition to a scale, drill, and weights for making modifications. These resources will no longer be available at 1:30 when check-in begins. For more information: contact Melissa Carlsen.
If you do not have your own tools for cutting out their Grand Prix cars, John Egli has invited us over to his work shop (790 30th St Building E1, Springfield, OR - “Cozy Cruiser” is the name of his business) to use his tools on Apr 10th from 1:30-3:30pm. Parents are responsible for getting their children there. It is also mandatory that parents stay with their children.
See you Sunday!
“Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up” (Deuteronomy 6:5-7, NIV84).
