We've all heard the phrase, "Jesus loves me just the way I am." I'm not going to argue that point at all. Jesus is crazy about you. Romans 5:8 says that "while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." He is so crazy about us, that He died for us before we even knew we had a mess to clean up (let alone the capability to do so). Jesus does love you just the way you are. That is undeniable. And we love Him too because He first loved us. He loves us so much that He calls us His bride.
Put yourself in the shoes of the bride. A bride would NEVER show up to her wedding day in her grungy pajama pants, stinky armpits, greasy hair, au naturale face, or stocking feet. A bride prepares herself for her groom, and she's not doing so begrudgingly. A bride is thrilled to eat well and exercise, to find the PERFECT dress, to try the latest hair style, and to read every article she can find on being the best wife.
Jesus loves you just the way you are, but don't you think He deserves a bride that will take good care of herself and present herself as glorious and holy? Prepare yourself for the bridegroom! Seek to grow in affection for your groom. Ask Him how you can love those around you with the love He has for them too. Give up that thing that keeps you from experiencing all of Him.
