KOR Parent Letter for May 1st
Dear Parents, Grandparents, & Mentors of Calvary:
Welcome to May!
Your K-5th grade children will be focusing on contentment- “deciding to be happy with what you’ve got.” Our memory verse will be Philippians4:12b: “I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want” (NIV).
Your Pre-K children will be learning that God gives them good friends. Their memory verse will be Ecclesiastes 4:9: “Two people are better than one. They can help each other in everything they do” (NIrV).
Your K-5th grade children will be encouraged that “when you focus on God, He can help you be content” through the example of Paul (Philippians 4:11b-13). Parent Cue: This week, at bed time, read Philippians 4:11b-13. Remind each other of something you do have. Ask God to help you be happy with those things instead of worrying about getting more.
Your Pre-K children will be learning about David and Jonathan’s friendship (1 Samuel 18:1-4). Parent Cue: This week, at bath time, include bubbles and two toy people/animals. Hide one toy in the bubbles and let the other toy “find” him. Say: “Two are better than one!”
Join us on May 14th from 11am to 1pm for our annual Mother/Daughter Tea where we will be encouraged that we are God’s masterpieces. Please come even if you don’t have a daughter, granddaughter, or little sister to bring as there may be girls there who do not have a special female role model to bring with them. We will be celebrating all that God has done in the hearts of the children and all that they have accomplished at the Awana Awards Ceremony on May 25th. Join us at 6:30 pm to celebrate with us. There will be a cupcake reception following the ceremony.
