KOR Parent Letter for May 8
Dear Parents, Grandparents, & Mentors of Calvary:
Happy Mother’s Day!
Your K-5th grade children will be taught that “when you focus on what you don’t have, it can make you miserable” through the story of Ahab and Naboth’s vineyard (1 Kings 21:1-19, 27). Parent Cue: This week, at dinner, ask: “When does wanting more become a problem?”
Your Pre-K children will continue learning about friendship with the story of David and Jonathan being sad as they say goodbye to each other (1 Samuel 18:1-4). Parent Cue: This week, at bath time, add matching toy sets to your child’s bubble bath and let him pick two at a time. If they match, say the memory verse: “Two are better than one.”
Join us on May 14th (next Saturday) from 11am to 1pm for our annual Mother/Daughter Tea where we will be encouraged that we are God’s masterpieces. Please come even if you don’t have a daughter, granddaughter, or little sister to bring as there may be girls there who do not have a special female role model to bring with them. For more information or to volunteer: contact Gayleen Peterson.
We will be celebrating all that God has done in the hearts of the children and all that they have accomplished at the Awana Awards Ceremony on May 25th. Join us at 6:30 pm to celebrate with us. There will be a cupcake reception following the ceremony.
