KOR Parent Letter for May 22nd

May 21, 2016

Dear Parents, Grandparents, & Mentors of Calvary:

I hope you this finds you well!

This Sunday

Your K-5th grade children will be challenged that “when you focus on stuff, you can miss what matters” through the parable of the rich fool (Luke 12:13-21). Parent Cue: This week, at dinner, ask: “Instead of wishing for more “things” all the time, what can you focus on that will allow you to grow stronger in the things that matter?”

Your Pre-K children will be learning about the time when King David praised God (2 Samuel 6:5, 14; Psalm 149:1-5). Parent Cue: This week, at play time, use plastic bowls and spoons to have a praise party for the Lord! Play music, sing and dance just like King David did!

Upcoming Events

This Wednesday (May 25th), we will be celebrating all that God has done in the hearts of the children and all that they have accomplished at the Awana Awards Ceremony. Join us at 6:30 pm to celebrate with us. There will be a cupcake reception following the ceremony.

We will have the new kindergartners and third graders step up to their new classes on June 5th. If they are not ready for this transition, it is fine for them to stay in their old classes; but we will be encouraging them to step up on that Sunday.

We will be recognizing the graduating fifth graders on Graduation Sunday (June 12th) in second service.

Mark June 11th on your calendars for the Father/Son Amazing Race. More details to come.

Also mark August 1-5 on your calendars for VBS! We will be starting at 6pm for ages 3-10. 3 & 4 year olds will be picked up at 7:30 and everyone else will be done at 9. More information to come.

Have a great weekend!

Pastor Bre

“Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.  Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up” (Deuteronomy 6:5-7, NIV84).
