KOR Parent Letter for June 5th
Dear Parents, Grandparents, & Mentors of Calvary:
Can you believe that it is already June?!
Your K-5th grade children will be talking about faith in June and July. We are defining faith as: “believing what Jesus did can change me.” Our memory verse will be Hebrews 11:1: “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see” (NIV).
Your Pre-K children will be enjoying the Creation Station as they learn that “God made me” during the months of June and July. Their memory verse will be Psalm 89: 11: “You made the world and everything in it” (NCV).
Your K-5th grade children will be learning that “the story of Jesus changes everything” through a presentation of the gospel. Parent Cue: This week, at bedtime, read Acts 13:24-38. Pray together and tell Jesus you believe He is who He says He is.
Your Pre-K children will be learning that God created light and dark (Genesis 1:1-5). Parent Cue: This week, at bath time, play peek-a-boo. Ask your child if it’s dark when he covers his eyes. Talk about how everything was dark until God made light.
We will have the new kindergartners and third graders step up to their new classes this Sunday (June 5th). If they are not ready for this transition, it is fine for them to stay in their old classes; but we will be encouraging them to step up this week.
We will be recognizing the graduating fifth graders on Graduation Sunday (June 12th) in second service.
Fathers, bring your sons out for a fun afternoon at the Father/Son Amazing Race next Saturday (June 11th (1-3pm)) at the church! Father/Son teams will make memories while participating in a scavenger hunt around the church. Big brothers, mentor figures, and boys whose fathers can’t make it are welcome too!
We are following Joseph on his Egyptian journey from prison to palace this year at VBS! So mark August 1-5 on your calendars and let me know if you can help! We will be starting at 6pm for ages 3-10. 3 & 4 year olds will be picked up at 7:30 and everyone else will be done at 9. More information to come.
Thank you for allowing us to invest in your precious children!
“Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up” (Deuteronomy 6:5-7, NIV84).
