For over a year we have been promoting our community groups by reminding you that God created us to do Life Together, to be in fellowship with Him and with one another. I'm still continually reminded that this isn't just a catchy slogan, but truly the way we are wired to function best.
Last week the CRT gathered for a run/walk and as I set out, I honestly didn't have high expectations. I had been bothered by a sore calf and the past few runs had been really poor. A little way into the run, I was joined by another one of our team and we began to talk as we ran. We talked about music and our kids. Time passed quickly as we visited and suddenly we were done. Afterward I thought of how negative my thoughts had been as I ran lately and how much better it was to share the run with another.
There are so many scriptural parallels and life applications. Ezekiel 4:12 says "Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken." 1 John 1:7 encourages us to have fellowship with one another. We are truly so much better when we live life together. Together we can support, encourage, challenge, correct and help keep one another on the right track.
Today, as I visited another member of the CRT in the hospital I was reminded of another way we can live life together. Galatians 6:2 says that we are to carry or bear one another's burdens. I went to the hospital to encourage a brother and help bear his burden, and I left with lifted spirits. That's what happens when we live lift together. God's plan is perfect. We truly are better together.
This week we will NOT be meeting on Wednesday evening. On Saturday we will meet at 9 am at Dorris Ranch and on Sunday we will meet at 7 pm at Clearwater trail. Come early on Sunday to Mount Vernon school and join the Kickin' It group at 5:30 pm for a warm up game of kickball!
I will be taking orders for Calvary Running Team shirts for another week or so. The cost is only $10. If you would like a CRT shirt, please contact me with your shirt size.
Have a great week!
