I was really stiff and sore when I woke up this morning and I knew exactly why. After running with the CRT last night, I stood around and talked, then drove home without taking time to stretch. I've read countless articles over the years about the importance of post workout stretching. I know what I should do, but often I don't do it.
There is a proverb from New Guinea that says, "Knowledge is only a rumor until it is in the muscle." In other words, it doesn't matter what you know if you don't put it into practice. James 1:22-24 contains a similar message about our spiritual life. "Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like."
It's great to read the Word, attend church or be part of a Bible study, but if we don't APPLY what we learn, where is the benefit? This is another reason we need each other. When we Live Life Together, we can provide the encouragement and accountability we each need to apply the things that we have learned.
You can find that encouragement and accountablity with the Calvary Running Team. If you would like to join us this week we will meet on Wednesday at noon at the Springfield entrance to Pre's Trail (park at the corner of Aspen and D streets), on Saturday at Clearwater trail at 9 am and on Sunday we will meet at Clearwater trail at 5 pm.
It's not too late to sign up for the Ram Run!: The CRT will be entering as many of our team as possible in the Ram Run on October 22 at 9 am at Alton Baker Park. The entry fee is $20 and you can register on line, just search for eclectic edge racing and Ram Run. They will have both 5k and 10K distances. Come out on the 22nd and let's represent the CRT well!
