KOR Parent Letter for Dec 18th
Dear Parents, Grandparents, & Mentors of Calvary:
Can you believe it’s almost Christmas?!
Your K-5th grade children will be encouraged that they “can have joy because God sent His Son” through the story of Jesus’ birth (Luke 2:1-7). We will be lighting the pink candle on our advent wreath which is called the shepherd’s candle and reminds us of the joy that God gives us in Jesus. We will also light the last purple candle which is called the angel’s candle and reminds us of the message of peace that they brought. Parent Cue: This week, at dinner, ask: what is something that happened this week that gave you joy?
Your Pre-K children will be learning about when the angels announced Jesus’ birth to the shepherds (Luke 2:6-18). Parent Cue: Bath time is a great time to review Bible verses with your child. Let your child teach YOU the hand motions for this month’s verse!
Family Advent Activity
We have a gift for all our families with pre-k and elementary aged children. It is some supplies for baking a birthday cake for Jesus. We hope that you will find time this month to bake a cake and celebrate Jesus’ birthday at home with your children.
There will be no Awana on Dec 21st and 28th.
There will be two services offered on Christmas Eve at 4pm and 6pm. Pre-K and Elementary classes will be offered if you wish to send your children. There will be no service on Christmas Day (Sunday). There will be one service at 10:30am on New Year’s Day.
See you Sunday!
“Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up” (Deuteronomy 6:5-7, NIV84).
