KOR Parent Letter for Jan 1st
Dear Parents, Grandparents, & Mentors of Calvary:
Welcome to 2017!
Your K-5th grade children will be focusing on knowledge which we are defining as “learning something new so that you can be better at whatever you do.” Our memory verse will be Psalm 119:105: “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path” (NIV).
Your Pre-K children will be learning that Jesus is there when they need Him. Their memory verse will be Psalm 119:57: “You are everything I need” (NIrV).
H2Go: Offering Project
This month we are partnering with Compassion International to provide water filtering systems for families in the Philippians. Nearly half of Filipino households do not have safe drinking water. Along with poor sanitation, unsafe water is the second biggest killer of children globally. For $79, we can provide a water filtering system with a reusable filter that will give one family a million gallons of fresh water! Let’s see how many filtering systems we can provide!
Your K-5th grade children will be learning that “discovering what God says helps you know Jesus” though the story of the three wise men (Matthew 2:1-12). Parent Cue: This week, at dinner, ask: what’s your favorite way to learn something new?
Your Pre-K children will be learning about the time that Jesus healed a blind man showing that He has power to help (John 9:1-7). Parent Cue: This week, at bath time, practice saying the Bible verse together by patting the top of the water with flat hands each time you say a word of the verse. Make one final big splash when you say the verse reference.
There will be one service at 10:30am this Sunday (New Year’s Day).
Awana will resume this Wednesday (Jan. 4th).
Bring your elementary age daughters out to the Girls’ Spa Night on January 20th at 6:30pm for a night of pampering and talking about true beauty.
Happy New Year!
“Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up” (Deuteronomy 6:5-7, NIV84).
