Happy New Year, Calvary Running Team!
One of the great things about starting a new year is that it's a time when many people are reviewing their lives and resolving to make some positive changes. It's like we can wipe the slate clean and start fresh.
The past few weeks have presented some challenges to those of us who are trying to stick with a training plan. Between the nasty weather and the busy holiday schedule, we've missed a lot of training days. Maybe you have too. So now we're starting a new year and it's the perfect time to make a fresh start. Forget the way your training plan has gotten fouled up the past few weeks and start over.
I was reading an interesting article about new years resolutions. It said that those who are most likely to stick to their resolution are those who share their commitment with one or more others, and together they agree to hold one another accountable. When working together, people are more successful.
Duh! That's what the Calvary Running Team is all about; supporting and encouraging one another, helping each other to stay disciplined and reach our goals. The weather guessers are forecasting more extreme cold this week. When you are training on your own, it's easy to look outside and say, "it's too cold, I'll try tomorrow." But if you have others waiting for you, you're much more likely to bundle up and go join them.
Ecclesiastes 4:12 describes the value of working together. "Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken." If we team up together, we are much more likely to reach our goals.
Come join the CRT this week and we'll brave the cold together. We will be meeting two times this week. On Wednesday we will meet at noon at Clearwater Trail and on Saturday we will meet at 9 am at Clearwater Trail. We hope to see you out there.
Have a great week!
