Dear Parents, Grandparents, & Mentors of Calvary:
Welcome to February!
Your K-5th grade children will be focusing on love which we are defining as: “choosing to treat others the way you want to be treated.” Our memory verse will be 1 John 4:10: “This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins” (NIV).
Your Pre-K children will be learning that Jesus loves them and their memory verse will be Ephesians 3:18: “How wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ” (NIV).
Your K-5th grade children will be encouraged to “love others because Jesus loves you” with a look at John 15:12-13. Parent Cue: This week, at dinner, ask: “If you had a super power, what would it be and how would you use it to show love to others?”
Your Pre-K children will be learning about the time Jesus visited His friends (Lazarus, Mary, and Martha) because He wanted to spend time with them (Luke 10:38-42). Parent Cue: This week, wake your child to: “Good morning! Jesus loves you SO big!” Spread your arms out wide when you say “SO” and then give your child a hug.
Offering Project: H2Go
We were able to provide 3 ½ families in the Philippines with water filtering systems last month!
Next Wednesday is 80s night at Awana.
Bring your K-6th grade sons out for the Boys’ Nerf Night on February 10th (next Friday) at 6:30-8:pm for nerf fun and pizza. Richard Bockla (our Middle School Pastor) will be our guest directing the fun and sharing about being a man of God. Dads, brothers, and grandpas are welcome to stay and join in the fun.
We will be offering an Awana Handbook Workshop on February 19th at 1:30-2:30 for children who need to get caught up in their handbooks.
Thank you for allowing us to invest in your precious children!
“Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up” (Deuteronomy 6:5-7, NIV).
