KOR Parent Letter for March 5th

March 4, 2017

Dear Parents, Grandparents, & Mentors of Calvary:

Welcome to March!

This Month

Your K-5th grade children will be focusing on forgiveness which we are defining as “deciding that someone who has wronged you doesn’t have to pay.” Our memory verse will be Colossians 3:13: “Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you” (NIV).

Your Pre-K children will be learning that they can love everyone like Jesus did. Their memory verse will be John 13:34: “Love one another” (NIV).

This Sunday

Your K-5th grade children will be encouraged that God forgives them through the parable of the lost sheep (Luke 15:1-17). Parent Cue: This week, at bedtime, read Luke 15:1-7. Thank God for always forgiving you for your sins.

Your Pre-K children will be learning about the parable of the good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37). Parent Cue: This week, at bath time, while you are washing your child’s arms and legs; talk about how the Samaritan man washed and cared for his hurt neighbor’s arms and legs.

Upcoming Events

Dads (or grandpas or big brothers etc.): bring your Pre-K – 6th grade daughters out to our 1950s soda shop for a daddy/daughter date night on March 17th (6:30-8pm). We will be serving ice cream sundaes and root beer floats. You can come dressed up nice, casual, or in your 1950s threads. We encourage you to take your daughters out to dinner beforehand.

We are offering an Awana Handbook Workshop on March 26th (at 1:30-2:30pm) for children who need to get caught up in their handbooks.

Thank you for allowing us to invest in your precious children!

Pastor Bre

“Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.  Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up” (Deuteronomy 6:5-7, NIV).
