I say it so often that I'm sure people are getting sick of hearing it. As believers, we are called to live Life Together. Relationship. It's the example Jesus set as He taught his disciples and it's how the early church was described in the first chapter of Acts. "And all who believed were together and had all things in common."
When you live Life Together, you are looking out for the interests of others, not just your own interests. The cool thing is, if you are focused on looking out for number one, there is no one to watch your back. But if you're living Life Together, you have all those around you watching your back and seeking the best for you.
The Calvary Running Team was created around an interest or passion for running, walking and physical fitness - but the real purpose for this and all the other community groups is relationship. So when one of our groups is unable to run because they're recovering from an injury, we walk with them and support them in their recovery. When someone is dealing with a family crisis or an employment issue, we support them, we encourage them and we pray with them. We "Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep." (Romans 12:15) It's how we do Life Together. It's an honor, not a hardship.
(Romans 12:10) "Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor;"
I have developed a special bond with some of the guys on the CRT. We can talk sports, critique the message from the previous Sunday, and share about family joys and struggles. And we pray for one another. It's such a gift and a blessing to share the load with one another and to live Life Together.
If this sounds attractive to you, I invite you to join us this week for a run/walk.. On Wednesday we will meet at noon at the new Millrace extension to the Clearwater trail. It's on the corner of 32nd street and Jasper road, between Agnes Steward school and Douglas Gardens school. On Saturday we will meet at 9 am at Millrace, and on Sunday we will meet at Clearwater trail at 4 pm.
I hope to see you out there.
Have a great week!
