KOR Parent Letter for Apr 2

March 30, 2017

Dear Parents, Grandparents, & Mentors of Calvary:

Happy Spring!

This Month

Your K-5th grade children will be focusing on humility which we are defining as “putting others first by giving up what you think you deserve.” Our memory verse will be Philippians 2:3: “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves” (NIV).

Your Pre-K children will be learning that Jesus is the best. Their memory verse will be John 3:16: “God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son” (GNT).

This Sunday

Your K-5th grade children will be encouraged that “I can put others first by serving them” through the story of Jesus washing His disciples’ feet (John 13:1-17). Parent Cue: This week, at bedtime, read John 13:1-17. Ask God to help you see new ways to put others first by serving them.

Your Pre-K children will also be learning about the story of Jesus washing the disciples’ feet (John 13:1-17). Parent Cue: This week, at play time, use wipes and ask your child to help you clean up. Talk about how Jesus cleaned His friends’ feet to show that He loved them.

Upcoming Events

The Grand Prix is coming up on April 22nd and car kits are available (for $5) at Awana! We will offer a pre-event workshop at noon (on Apr 22nd) for children to try their cars out on the track and adjust the weight if they need. Check-in will be 1pm-1:15pm and the race will begin at 1:30pm.

We are offering a Grand Prix work day on April 9th at 1:30pm during which John Egli will be willing to help children cut out their cars at his shop (the Cozy Cruiser at 790 30th St Building E1 Springfield, OR 97478). Parents must accompany their children.

Thank you for allowing us to invest in your precious children!

Pastor Bre

“Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.  Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up” (Deuteronomy 6:5-7, NIV).
