This last weekend, the sun finally came out and I had opportunity to catch up on some yard work that the rain had been preventing. Unfortunately, I was like the person who hasn't been able to run for a couple months, then gets the opportunity and goes out and runs 10 miles. I over did it. By evening, I was really stiff and sore. But after a good night of rest I felt much better.
I remember how I felt after running my first marathon. I felt like I'd been hit by a truck, but the next morning, I felt much better. Maybe you've experienced something similar.
A couple weeks ago I had a really stressful day and was really down when I went to bed. The next morning, the problems I had been concerned about hadn't changed, but they didn't seem as insurmountable as before. I'm reminded of the verse in Lamentations 3:22-23 that says "The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.
No matter what we are facing, the love of God never fails, His mercies begin afresh every morning. What a great promise!
So whether you've overdone if physically or you have just had a hard day - take some ibuprofen, get some rest and trust that the never ending mercies of God will be fresh and new in the morning.
If you could use some encouragement or support, come join us this week for a run/walk. On Wednesday we will meet at noon at the new Millrace extension to the Clearwater trail. It's on the corner of 32nd street and Jasper road, between Agnes Steward school and Douglas Gardens school. We will be out of town so NO CRT on Saturday. On Sunday we will meet at Clearwater trail at 4 pm.
I hope to see you out there.
Have a great week!
